I love cemetaries and this shot is exceptional. One of the critiques early on was that the sky was overexposed, but I think that is the beauty of sunrise or sunset shots mixed with architecture. The blowout of the sun behind it adds a certain oomph to the piece for me. Sorry that's not a technical term there.

We go to NY a lot and i'd love to see this view for myself. Where is this cemetary?

very controfersing...great idea, the first connotation when i saw that picture was world trade centerre and the terrorist atack, lot of kiiled pepople and graves..... i think that it realy shows what is live and that sometimes the biggest is the smallest.
Tuch the skay or fall down down to the uderground!!!! R.I.P

i think part of the appeal is the use of sepia/antique, i really dont think it would have been the same even in black and white. lovely composition and idea!

The sepia tone gives a real good sense of age and time, two concepts which really present themselves well to me in this composition. The idea that nothing lasts, that our monuments of today will be ruins in the coming ages, that our time here is fleeting ... all introspective topics to consider, all of which speak to me from this photo. The very finite nature of Empire, both saddening yet completely necessary to understand.

Manip or not, the concept is great. I think that the effect are taken a little bit to far (too much equalizing?)...but the color choice is good. I love NYC and everything that has to do with it ;)

Hm, I've got this very disturbing image in my mind of the stones leaving their graves and walking up the hill to gaze out over the city on the other side... like they're checking out potential bodies, or something.
